The Evolution Championship Series is known for bringing together the best fighting game masters the world has to offer. This year, arcade cabinets are officially joining the fray.

Joey Cuellar, known to the fighting game community as "Mr. Wizard," recently announced the lineup for Evo 2015, Shoryuken reports. Cuellar was one of the co-founders of the Evolution Championship Series, and we're glad to see him still involved. As expected, Evo 2015 is going to be the definitive tournament to determine the best of the best when it comes to Mortal Kombat, Super Smash Bros. and Street Fighter, but there are even more games to it than just those.

Evo 2015's official roster of games includes the following fighters:

  • Ultra Street Fighter IV
  • Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3
  • Super Smash Bros. (Wii U)
  • Guilty Gear Xrd Sign
  • Killer Instinct
  • Mortal Kombat X
  • Persona 4 Arena Ultimax
  • Super Smash Bros. Melee
  • Tekken 7 (Arcade)
Since Tekken 7 won't be out on consoles in time for Evo 2015, Cuellar's crew and Bandai Namco Games will be hauling out groups of arcade cabinets, which goes against the tournament's console-only mentality. Since 2004, the Evolution Championship Series has primarily been using consoles for its tournaments (the use of Arcade Sticks are encouraged and are considered the norm at these events).

Evo 2015 will be taking place in Las Vegas from July 17-19.

There's still plenty of time to memorize those gnarly Fatalities.
