Season 3 of Killer Instinct has been confirmed, and its first guest character is Rash from Battletoads.

During Xbox's main stage presentation at Gamescom 2015, Iron Galaxy Studios and Microsoft Studios announced season 3 of Killer Instinct for both Xbox One and PC, which will be coming out in March 2016. Better yet, both versions will be featuring cross-platform connectivity between the two for its online matches. Furthermore, cross-buy will supposedly be included as well.

Double Helix Games originally developed the third Killer Instinct title and released it in 2013. After being acquired by Amazon, Double Helix passed the reins of Killer Instinct over to Iron Galaxy Studios, known for their work in porting Street Fighter III, Marvel Vs. Capcom and Darkstalkers over to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Since then, Iron Galaxy launched the second season of the fighting game, which added tons of new features. Season 2 also introduced TJ Combo, Maya, Kan-Ra, Riptor, Omen, Aganos, Hisako, Cinder and Aria to the game. Season 3 will also supposedly mark the returns of Kim Wu and Tusk from Killer Instinct 2. Now that the game's seasons have included most of the major cast members of the first two titles, it seems that Iron Galaxy is searching for more guest characters, and our first one is going to be a Battletoad.

Those who own both Rare Replay and Killer Instinct will be able to beta test Rash starting today, Aug. 4, until Sept. 8. Season 3 will launch in March 2016.
