The Torment: Tides of Numenera Kickstarter just closed its doors this weekend, and InXile now has more funds than they know what to do with.

The Kickstarter closed at a whopping $4,188,927. Good lord that’s a lot of money! 74,405 backers pushed this game project well past its original $900,000 goal. Breaking the four million mark gives Torment: Tides of Numenera the honor of being the most successfully crowdfunded video game of all time! Sorry Double Fine, it was fun while it lasted.

The four million mark has allowed InXile to achieve several stretch goals. Perhaps most notable is the addition of Chris Avellone, an original Torment designer, to the Torment team. However, the project has also been able to fund a longer story, larger world, and greater graphics options. Oh, and Patrick Rothfuss is also helping to write the game now, which is sure to make any fantasy writer or fan of the Kingkiller Chronicle drool all over themselves.
