As though we needed another reason to want to throw iOS 8 out a window, Square Enix's unforgettable RPG, The World Ends With Youisn't working on it.

The iOS version of The World Ends With You isn't just bugged, it's straight up broken, Kotaku reports. If you have the newest iOS version and shelled out the $18 to buy the app then, well, you're basically out $18 for the moment. When iOS 8 users try to open up the game at the moment, they get the "Initializing..." screen of death. It doesn't ever move from that screen and you're basically just left in an initializing state of limbo. It has gotten so bad that Square Enix has completely removed the game from the App Store. However, Square Enix wants fans and players to know that it hasn't given up on the game. The game came out on mobile formats two years ago so it's not as though this has always been a problem, but if you're a new user you may be a little discouraged by the time it's taking Square to get itself together.

In an official statement, Square Enix states:

Upon examining the impact of recent iOS updates to the title, we determined that the affected areas were greater than originally assumed.

We were working to address this matter, however, the title has been regrettably pulled from the Store.

Square Enix is actively working with all related parties to make available the software update; however at this time, we are unable to communicate a clear and adequate timeline. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to determine a solution.

Unfortunately the only thing that users can do for now is play the waiting game until Square Enix releases an updated version to solve The World Ends With You's initializing problem.
