Prima jumped the gun on revealing its next box set, which includes a strategy guide for Final Fantasy XII, which is expecting a yet-to-be-announced HD remaster.

Japanator reports that Prima Games revealed its upcoming strategy guide box set for Final Fantasy X, X-2 and XII. Given Prima's prevalence in strategy guide making, they may have had firsthand experience with the HD remaster of Final Fantasy XII, which Square Enix has yet to announce to the public, but we're all expecting by this point. They claim the screenshots of the guide were taken from the PS2 version of the game and captured in 720p, even though it's really tough to get a level of quality that high from just the PS2 version of the game alone (considering it's a 9-year-old game). An HD remaster seems like a more logical source for pictures of that quality.

Square recently did an HD remaster of Final Fantasy X and X-2, so throwing FFXII into the strategy guide set corroborates previous reports that Vaan and the gang are making a big return onto modern consoles. The box set's HD details of Final Fantasy XII all but confirm that we're getting a modern remaster of the 2006 PlayStation 2 RPG. On the other hand, they released a set for FFVII-IX a few months ago, so they might just be going through the notions and this could just be a big coincidence.

Last month, we reported that Arnie Roth, the conductor of the Final Fantasy Distant Worlds concert, told the orchestra's attendees that his team was scoring a remake of Final Fantasy XII. Of course, Square Enix cracked down on his statement, making him clarify that they're not doing a remake, but why else would he say something like that unless they were doing an rearranged soundtrack for the HD remaster.

Prima's box set of strategy guides for Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X-2 and Final Fantasy XII is set to launch on Nov. 3. I have a feeling Prima Games wouldn't launch the strategy guides unless FFXII's HD remaster was out around that time to get the most bang for their buck.
