Like Wilson’s life wasn’t hard enough already. The poor guy gets swept away to a dismal Tim Burton world where he has to avoid starvation while staving off insanity, evil frogs, giant spiders, one-eyed birds, tree monsters, mysterious tentacles and hypothermia with nothing to aid him but his magnificent beard. And he doesn’t have the benefit of checkpoints, continues or extra lives. When Wilson dies, he DIES. Now developer Klei Entertainment wants to make things even tougher on our Edgar Allen Poe-esque hero by adding giants to the mix.

Reign of Giants, the expansion to the critically acclaimed Don’t Starve, is available today on Steam for $4.49. In a press release, Klei details the expansion’s key features, including a hugely expanded game world, new biomes and an additional save slot. Two new playable characters will be available to help with the not dying: Wigfrid, a method actress who finds herself too deep in her role as a Valkyrie, and Webber, a young boy who lives inside a giant spider. Seasons have been implemented as well, adding snow, rain and blistering heat depending on the time of year. New creatures will also be included, most notably the titular giants (of which there will be one for every season), which promise to up the game’s challenge significantly.

The Playstation 4 version of Reign of Giants is also in the works, with a $4.99 price tag and a release date to be determined.
