Flappy Bird Tops Destiny, FIFA and More in Google’s Year in Search
Just when you thought you had faith in humanity, Dong Nguyen's Flappy Bird mobile game turned out to be the most searched for game on Google in 2014. Let that sink in for a moment.
Google has released its Year in Search report for 2014, and its results will surprise you. While topics like ALS, Hamas, Robin Willaims and the Sochi Olympics all topped the charts, a certain frustrating mobile game surprised us all being right there with them, Flappy Bird.
Flappy Bird turned out to be the most searched for video game in 2014 and took the number five ranking for the year's overall trending searches worldwide. The Threes ripoff app 2048 took second place for the top trending game of 2014, with FIFA 15, Destiny and Titanfall all in tow. You know that whole Ukraine/Russia debacle? Ferguson? How about ISIS? Yeah, people searched more for Flappy Bird on Google than those things.
Mind you, Dong Nguyen pulled Flappy Bird off of the market on Feb. 10, 2014. Who knows what silly game people are going to go crazy for in 2015.
