Nintendo has released a handful of screenshots that showcase the gorgeous, cel-shaded graphics of the next Legend of Zelda game coming to the Wii U.

We got a brief look at the open-world game yesterday during Nintendo's E3 presentation. The land of Hyrule looked as lush and beautiful as ever thanks to its borrowed cel-shaded style from the Toon Link games coupled with an aesthetic that closely resembles that of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

Nintendo released just a few choice screenshots for the game, which is currently in development, but they're looking pretty sweet. They feature our hero on a horse as he looks over the plains of Hyrule, staring at the mountain range in the distance and a few screens that feature him facing off against what looks to be a boss-type monster.

The spell effects are pretty detailed and are among the most impressive we've seen yet in The Legend of Zelda series. We'd love to see more of that funky bow in action as well, given that it seemingly changes its arrows' elemental properties.

Unfortunately, we'll have to wait until 2015 to get our hands on this slice of fried gold, but keep it here as we bring you more information about the next Zelda title for Wii U.
