A new, cloud-based TV service is going to be hitting the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

Sony has revealed its upcoming cloud-based service that will be able to broadcast recent, on-demand and catch-up television content. PlayStation Vue will allow Sony's PS3 and PS4 consoles to stream up-to-date TV content with a powerful user interface where personalization and simplicity are at the forefront of its design. PlayStation Vue will connect you to the content you want and recommend similar movies and TV shows based on trends and your own personal viewing habits. PS Vue will have a search feature and an explore feature so you can find what you want or narrow down on new programs whenever you want to experiment with something new based on genre, ratings, popularity, length and more. Anything broadcast on PS Vue's connected channels within the past three days will be available at anytime, eliminating the need to schedule DVR/recordings.

The PS Vue's invite-only beta will offer 75 channels at first, but will get more and more channels as time goes on. CBS, the Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, Oprah Winfrey Network, Fox, FX, FXX, National Geographic Channel, Fox Sports 1-2, BTN, Yes Network, NBC, Telemundo, Bravo, E!, Oxygen, Sprout, Syfy, USA Network, Food Network, RIY Network, BET, CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Spike, VH1 and dozens of other channels will be available with more on the way. That's right, sports channels are included as well.

While no actual pricing rates has been revealed yet, Sony claims that PlayStation Vue will have no contracts and you simply pay on a month-by-month basis, which no type of TV subscription service needed -- all that is required is a broadband Internet connection and a PS3 or PS4.

PlayStation Vue will launch publicly during Q1 2015.
