Though Atlus had already announced Shin Megami Tensei 4 would be coming to the U.S. later this summer, Nintendo revealed more specifics on when to expect the 3DS game during Wednesday's Nintendo Direct.

Set to arrive on July 16th, Shin Megami Tensei 4 will be the first time in nearly a decade that the franchise has gotten a proper sequel. When it does hit retail stores stateside, Atlus won't just be releasing a hum-drum version of the game. Instead, in true Atlus fashion, the developer is pulling out all the stops when it comes to SMT4.

In addition to the 3DS cartridge, SMT4's collector's edition will feature a strategy/design book, a soundtrack CD featuring music from the 20-year history of MegaTen, and a nice slipcase to hold everything together. This sequel's release is a big deal to MegaTen fans, and will certainly be a stand out in the 3DS' game catalog not just for the year, but possibly for the console's library as a whole when all is said and done.

This version will be limited to first printings only, with every subsequent shipment being just the game by itself. So just be aware quantities of this package will be in short supply.
