Dinklebot will be no more as Bungie is recasting Destiny's main support role, replacing Peter Dinklage's droopy Ghost with Nolan North.

According to Game Informer, veteran voice actor Nolan North is stepping in to replace Peter Dinklage as the voice of Ghost from Destiny. While Destiny had its fair share of faults, a lot of people were left disappointed by Dinklage's uninspired voice acting. Furthermore, Dinklage was noticeably absent from Destiny's two recent expansions. Bungie has decided to move on with the story, and to do that they're going to need a new voice for your companion robot, which will now be provided by Nathan Drake himself, Nolan North.

Best of all, Bungie is having North redo all of Dinklage's original lines from "vanilla" Destiny:

“We wanted Nolan North’s version of the Ghost to wake you up at the start of the journey at level one and follow you all the way to level forty,” said creative director Luke Smith, who explained that the script will be left unchanged.

I'm rather letdown to hear that the script will be left unaltered, as its jargon-filled dialogue was tough to care for, though Dinklage's unenthusiastic, phoned-in performance obviously didn't help. There are simply too many strange and obscure terms used in the game's lore that results in a disconnect between the player and the story. It would help if there was an in-game codex for these terms, but the only way you can learn about them is by looking up the unorganized Grimoire Card system on the Destiny app (when you can just go to Wiki by that point).

“I was really excited to do this role,” Nolan North said. “You want to give him as much personality as the world will allow, without making it unbelievable. There’s a fine line to walk there, and I think we found it.”

Destiny: The Taken King will launch on Sept. 15 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
