California-based game company Kabam is who you want to go to if you've got a big 'ol movie that needs turning into a game. They already have put work in releasing games based on The Godfather and The Hobbit. Next up? The upcoming installment in the juggernaut Fast & Furious series -- Fast & Furious 6.

To develop the game, Kabam will be bringing in Exploding Barrel Games studio, who previously worked on a game called Margaritaville Online. We aren't sure exactly what that means for this game, but it's certainly creating somewhat of an unknown element.

Fast & Furious 6 will be a free-to-play title that will, presumably, have some racing going on. This is a movie series about cars, after all. And given that Exploding Barrel doesn't have a lot of titles under its belt yet, it will likely be pretty similar to the previous game based on Fast Five, which was developed by Gameloft.

According to Andrew Sheppard, president of Kabam Studios in an article from Pocket Gamer:

The Fast and the Furious series is one of the hottest movie and mobile gaming franchises of all time. Kabam is pedal down, blending the art of game design and the science of free-to-play distribution to make this game a thrill for street racing fans around the world.

There's no official date yet for this game, but it's safe to assume that it will be close to the May 24th theatrical release of Fast & Furious 6. Gentlemen, start your engines.
