The 10 Best Racing Games is a list we loved putting together. Ranking them actually seems unfair because there isn't a loser in the bunch. The top three could go in any order, but we chose the ones we felt were the most fun to play. Which is dumb because all the games on this list are fun to play. There's something here for everyone -- top down racers, quarter-mile head-to-head racers and realistic racers. Whether you live your life a quarter mile at a time or not, you should be speeding towards the App Store and downloading these 10 Best Racing Games.

    Smash Cops

    Hutch Games

When your suspect won't pull over politely, get out of the car and put his hands behind his head, the only thing a cop can do is ram that sucker until the vehicle flips and you make him give up. Smash Cops has a very simple control scheme that actually works. Plant your finger behind the car to accelerate, and when you turn, the car turns. Once you get it down, you'll be smashing criminals in no time.

    Draw Race 2

    Chillingo

Instead of controlling the racer, you control his racing line. This interesting twist on getting around a track has a lot more strategy than one would think. Coupled with beautiful graphics, Draw Race 2 looks awesome on your iPhone or iPad. Can you draw the perfect racing line? Just don't draw a bunch of figure 8's like I did. You won't win.

    Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing

    SEGA

Sonic deserves a spot at the starting line in our 10 best racing games list because Sonic and SEGA All-Stars Racing has gorgeous graphics and is a blast. Kids will like playing as their favorite Sonic character, and adults will dig the retro style in some of the levels. Now if only they could get the stupid multiplayer to not disconnect every race, then Sonic could actually move up a few spots.

CSR Racing is a really cool game and deserves a spot in our 10 best racing games list. Your goal is to get to the quarter-mile finish line faster than your opponent. Table Top Racing

    Playrise Edge Ltd.

Not all racing games have to be life-sized. In the case of Table Top Racing, you get to haul major ass in mini vehicles. Table Top Racing has great graphics, lots of courses, tons of unlockable vehicles and a fun multi-player aspect. You don't have to be a giant to compete with the racing big boys.

    Riptide GP

    Vector Unit Inc.

The only game that doesn't take place on land is also one of the coolest games on the list. Riptide GP reminds me of those days in the arcade playing Hydro Thunder, and now I get to play something like it at home! It looks and plays beautifully on the new iPad and flies on any Android device with the Tegra 3 processor, like the Google Nexus 7. Doesn't matter if you lose a race. When you play Riptide GP, you're always coming out on top. Now where's the sequel!!

    Real Racing 3

    Firemint Pty Ltd

Firemint took the excellent Real Racing 2, added a new engine, a fresh coat of paint and rolled this awesome sucker out into the App Store. It's free to play, but it takes some time to unlock new vehicles. Despite that, Real Racing 3 is about as pretty of a racer as you'll see in the App Store. Play it on your iPad, but keep a paper towel handy to wipe up after you start drooling over how gorgeous the game looks.

    Asphalt 7: Heat

    Gameloft S.A.

Asphalt 7: Heat is not only the best installment in the Asphalt 7 series, it's one of the best racing games period. Beautiful graphics, tons of cars, excellent controls and a kick ass soundtrack have kept me glued to my iPad. They keep adding new cars too with each update, like the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. It's exciting because it makes me wonder what else they could do with the next one. This could have easily taken our #1 spot, but it's missing one thing...

Sega has finally brought their beloved Crazy Taxi to iOS devices and we couldn't be happier! A perfect port of a perfect racing game as you pick up passengers and get them to their destination -- as fast as you can and anyway you can. Jump, drift, slide and crash your way through the familiar Crazy Taxi cities, while you bang your head to tracks by The Offspring and Bad Religion. This is one cab ride we don't mind paying extra money for!

    Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit

    Electronic Arts

Cop cars! Woohoo! Time to put on the uniform and chase these criminals down! I've always been a fan of the Hot Pursuit games, and this Need For Speed installment is one of the best ones yet. Ya, ya, some complain that the game nags you to sign up for an Origin account. Who cares, it takes two minutes. What I like is the rush you get when going after that third criminal with the clock ticking down. And if you don't want to play as the po-po, you can do career mode as a criminal. See? A little something for everyone. Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit gets the checkered flag in our 10 best racing games list.
