Despite all the recent controversies surrounding retailer-exclusive pre-order bonuses, Halo 5: Guardian's exclusive goodies can be earned by everyone.

343 Industries Executive Producer and studio head for Halo 5: Guardians John Holmes explained that their retailer-specific pre-order bonuses will be unlockable in-game for all users (courtesy of Destructoid). Most of the time, we have to wait a year or two until the "game of the year" edition to get some of the retailer-specific DLC we missed. Luckily, 343 intends on undermining all the DLC shenanigans we've been frowning at recently by making all retailer-exclusive content accessible by everyone. So what's the point in pre-ordering at various shops? It lets you have that particular item unlocked right off the bat.

"ALL unlockable content can be earned by everyone. Preorder just guarantees you have it out of box. No need to earn/unlock in game," Holmes said.

In terms of bonuses, GameStop will get the Hunter Class armor, Hunter Class Helmet, Sentinel Battle Rifle, Bloodthirst Battle Rifle Skin and a limited edition poster. Amazon pre-orders will get the Project SMG. Halo 5 pre-orders at Best Buy will get the Longshot Assault Rifle with Recoil Compensator. The Microsoft Store will get the Assault Rifle-Energy Bayonet and the Lagrange Assault Rifle skin. Xbox Live digital pre-orders will get a weapon skin that has yet to be revealed.

Halo 5: Guardians launches exclusively on Oct. 27 for Xbox One. Here's to hoping the rest of the industry will follow in 343's lead. We're looking at you, Activision.
