John-117 leads the Spartans of Blue Team into battle with the Covenant in this opening cinematic to Halo 5: Guardians.

343 Industries and Xbox have released a new cutscene from Halo 5: Guardians featuring Master Chief and his legendary group of soldiers, Blue Team. This cinematic is taken from the second mission of Halo 5. I have a feeling we'll be jumping back and forth a lot between Agent Locke/Fireteam Osiris and Master Chief/Blue TeamWe get to see the Spartans prep for an assault on an ONI research facility. This cutscene is quite similar (though different in tone) to the cinematic recently revealed of Agent Locke and Fireteam Osiris.

The previous cutscene had Locke looking reluctant as Fireteam Osiris geared up for a drop into a facility controlled by renegade Covenant who disregarded the ceasefire with humanity. Here, we have a similar situation: Master Chief is reluctant to rush into battle (though he might just be missing Cortana), his team must jet through space and infiltrate an ONI facility controlled by, you guessed it, more rogue Covenant.

I feel like there's a dichotomy going on between Locke and Chief as well as the two Spartan groups, based on the similarities and differences between the two cutscenes. Nevertheless, this is building up to one inevitable confrontation between Team Blue and Fireteam Osiris (get it? Red Vs. Blue!). While this cinematic was certainly awesome, it reminded me Star Wars: Episode III's intro for some reason (shudder).

Halo 5: Guardians will launch on Oct. 27 exclusively for Xbox One.
