Escape Dead Island Introduces Us to Survival Mystery
Cliff Calo is going to Banoi Island to investigate the gruesome events of the first Dead Island, and it looks like he’s going to change his mind about staying. Deep Silver has unveiled Escape Dead Island, a survival mystery spin-off of the Dead Island series.
You get to play as rich kid, Cliff Calo, who has something to prove as he heads to Banoi Island to check out what really happened to its vacationers. Of course, he’s going to find himself an army of the undead, and he’ll have to flee the island in whatever way he can. Escape Dead Island has a comic-vinette art style mixed with unconventional cel-shading techniques reminiscent of No More Heroes.
Written by Emmy Award-winning author Anne Toole (who helped write the script for The Witcher), Escape Dead Island is much more psychological than the original title. Even more intriguing is the decision to go to the third-person perspective and the focus on stealth and delusions. Unlike the first title, weapons won’t be as abundant, forcing you to silently sneak up on unsuspecting zombies since you can’t fight groups of walkers with an old flat-head screwdriver.
Unravel the mystery of this zombie invasion when Escape Dead Island launches on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC this fall for $39.99. Pre-ordering Escape Dead Island at GameStop will give you exclusive beta access to the game prior to its release.
