It seems that with every passing month, we see a new Kickstarter campaign for a quirky little video game that speaks to certain gamers' heart of hearts. The very latest in these types of games is Chasm, a love letter to Metroid, Castlevania, Diablo, and the Legend of Zelda, created by Discord Games.

The campaign is still in its infancy, but the game is already creating some buzz, thanks to sites like JoyStiq. The game is supposed to be a 2D Fantasy Action Role-Playing Game Platformer with procedurally-generated dungeons, just like Metroid, and features gameplay that's reminiscent of classics like Castlevania.

It is also influenced by The Legend of Zelda and Diablo, from which it draws its fantasy inspirations and concepts of loot. In the game, you take on the role of a soldier who passes through a mining town but gets stuck there when supernatural forces erupt from the mines. The only way to return home is to battle your way through the mines and return the evil from whence it came.

As of this writing, the Kickstarter has garnered $19,465 worth of support out of its $150,000 goal. With 28 days to go, there's a good chance that this game will meet its goal and maybe even a few stretch goals.
