Final Fantasy Creator Releases Footage of Cancelled RPG, Cry On
Watch this animated teaser for the cancelled RPG helmed by the creator of the Final Fantasy series.
Destructoid reports that Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi has released footage for the cancelled Mistwalker project, Cry On. This trailer was released to commemorate the sixth anniversary of Cry On's cancellation by publisher AQ Interactive (which is now a part of Marvelous AQL). As for the actual footage, it's hard to make any sense of it. There is a hand-drawn, anime-esque character crying as a massive rock golem reaches for her from behind. She has some sort of dagger, which won't do much against a little rock, let alone a massive walking one. Longtime Final Fantasy series composer Nobuo Uematsu was billed on the game's credits. Sakaguchi is listed as the game's producer and scenario writer.
The trailer then changes gears with the same girl being chased by a swarm filled with thousands of red-eyed critters. As she is about to fall off the cliff, we find out the giant rock guy is actually her protector, obliterating the swarm with a single punch. She then gives his hand a hug as the golem falls to pieces. Who knew what Cry On's gameplay could have been like.
