EA Offers Free Titles to SimCity Players

Are you upset with the current state of SimCity servers? Well, EA feels your pain. That’s why they are offering you a free Origin title, simply for putting up with the server issues during the game’s rocky launch period.

Anyone who registers their copy of SimCity before March 25 at 11:59 p.m. PDT can claim a free game from a rather impressive list of titles. Players can choose from Battlefield 3, Bejeweled 3, Dead Space 3, Mass Effect 3, Medal of Honor: Warfighters, Need for Speed Most Wanted, Plants vs Zombies, and SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition. That’s like a list of EA’s greatest recently released games! All free games must be claimed by March 30 at 11:59 PDT.

Regardless of SimCity’s poor server performance during its launch, it’s actually had one of the most profitable launches of any SimCity title in the past. Over 1.1 million copies of SimCity have been sold since the game’s release. 54% of all SimCity sales were through digital distribution platforms, and 44% were sold primarily through Origin. If there was any evidence that digital distribution is the wave of the future for PC gaming, this is it.
