Sony may have spilled the beans early on a new free-to-play initiative for multiplayer in Uncharted 3.

In the regular PlayStation blog update "The Drop," Sony was not very secretive about its plans for Uncharted 3. The post was simply titled, "Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Multiplayer (Free to play)." While the eagle-eyed team at Gaming Everything was able to get a screengrab, once the word spread, Sony quickly took the original post down.

Though there's no longer any proof of the announcement on Sony's website, it is believed Naughty Dog was going to move ahead with this model for the multiplayer. Late last year, the developer teased big news regarding Uncharted 3's multiplayer in 2013, but there hasn't been any official announcement as of yet. Allowing users to download the multiplayer portion of the game through the PlayStation Store would certainly be big news.

Until Sony and Naughty Dog get their stories straight though, we'll just have to wait and see what happens next.
