Yesterday, RPG developer Atlus advised North American Shin Megami Tensei fans to “fire up your PS3s and keep an eye on the PS Store tomorrow,” implying that a SMT game would be released as a downloadable title. Today we learned that the game in question is Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne.

As first reported by Gematsu, a rating on the ESRB website this morning confirmed that Nocturne, the third entry in the core Shin Megami Tensei series, will be available as a PS2 Classic on the Playstation Store. Nocturne was released in Japan in 2003, with a North American release the next year. A Japan-exclusive final version, entitled Nocturne Maniax Chronicle, came out in 2008. Since this announcement is only for the North American market, the North American version, which includes Devil May Cry’s Dante as a special guest character, will likely be used for the PS Store port. No price has been listed, but a Reddit user who mentioned using her $30 PSN credit for the purchase was told by an Atlus representative, “You won't even need all of that!”
