PlayStation Now Open Beta Starts Tomorrow

Sony's PlayStation Now service will enter open beta testing starting tomorrow for PlayStation 4 with a plethora of games available.

In an interview with IGN, PlayStation Now's Senior Director, Jack Buser, explained that the service will be opening tomorrow for all Playstation 4 owners in North America. While this is surprising news, what is even more shocking is the large amount of games that will be made available for the online service. The open beta of PlayStation Now on PS4 will start off with 100 playable games available for you to digitally rent.

"We're working diligently to bring a subscription option to gamers to compliment our rental offering for PlayStation Now," Buser said. "We believe that offering both of these options would provide gamers the freedom to discover and play games in ways that weren't before possible."

Sony is looking into offering a flat subscription fee option for PlayStation Now. These digital rental costs vary from title to title and based on how long you would like to rent them for. Some games will be priced for as low as $1.99. Buser claims that Sony is looking into a "rent-to-buy" option as well.

With 50 studios committing over 100 games to the service just at the start of its open beta, we're sure that PlayStation Now will be a force to be reckoned with in terms of digital offerings. But if we find out some of its final prices are a little wonky, we might still keep going to Redbox or GameFly.

While we're on the subject of renting games, rest in peace to Blockbuster Video.
