While the Internet is spreading all the Star Wars love of May the 4th, NetherRealm Studios is celebrating Friday the 13th by adding Jason Voorhees to Mortal Kombat X.

The first character of Mortal Kombat X's Kombat Pack, Jason Voorhees, will be making his Outworld debut this week. Jason marks the second horror icon to join the franchise, with Freddy Krueger joining MK9 as DLC a few years ago. Fortunately, Jason won't be the last, as the intergalactic hunter Predator is joining the roster as premium DLC as well. As you would expect, Jason is a slow, unstoppable behemoth who is deadly at close range. We're loving NetherRealm's tribute to Mrs. Voorhees' baby boy by having him nonchalantly killing a blonde teenager in his pre-match intro. It's hilarious to see Jason casually walk through projectiles, just as how he'd respond to gunfire in his movies. To no surprise, Jason's Fatality is brutal and showcases the many practical uses of a machete.

Jason will be available for Mortal Kombat X Kombat Pack owners on May 5 alongside the new Horror Pack of costumes. The Camp Crystal Lake slasher will be otherwise available for individual purchase on May 12. The next DLC pack expected to debut is Klassic Pack 1, which adds Tanya and Klassic skins for Kano, Liu Kang and Sonya Blade. A second Klassic Pack will feature Tremor with Klassic costumes for Quan Chi, Jax and Kung Lao. Finally, the Predator/Prey pack will include the Predator as a new character, with movie-themed skins for Scorpion, Johnny Cage and Jax.

NetherRealm wins, Fatality!
