Indie smash Minecraft just celebrated its second anniversary on Xbox Live, and with over 12 million copies sold, the console version of the voxel-based survival/building game is more popular than ever. The third Mash-Up Pack for Minecraft, based on the Halo series, will be arriving soon and Play XBLA has released a few screenshots to get us excited about it.

Like previous packs based on Mass Effect and Skyrim, the Halo pack will completely change the look of your Minecraft worlds. An exclusive texture set, new menus, user interface designs and new looks for tools and weapons will be included, as well as 40 new character skins based on Master Chief and other Halo favorites. A pre-made map is also provided, and features classic Halo locations like Blood Gulch, Sandtrap and Valhalla. The Mash-Up Pack will also change the way the game sounds, with a collection of Halo music tracks replacing the game’ somewhat depressing original score.

No price or release date has been announced yet, but we’re anticipating a $3.99 download, which would be in line with previous packs.
