Lego Angry Birds Will Star Red and Lots of Bad Piggies

Rovio and Lego are teaming up to create a line of block-based playsets based on one of the most successful mobile game franchises of all time.

With The Angry Birds Movie gearing up for its May 2016 theatrical release, Rovio and The Lego Group has given us a first look at what to expect for the Lego Angry Birds line of playsets. Courtesy of Kotaku, we get to see the Angry Birds' leader, Red, protecting an egg as some menacing Piggies are circling around him. As you would expect, these Lego builds are going to be based on slingshot-loving avians' upcoming movie as opposed to their round likenesses from the ongoing video game series.

Jason Sudeikis (Horrible Bosses, We're the Millers) will be in the spotlight of The Angry Birds Movie as Red. Josh Gad (Frozen, Back to You) will be voicing Chuck, the yellow bird. Bomb, the black bird, will be portrayed by Danny McBride (This Is the End, Eastbound and Down).Bill Hader (Superbad, Tropic Thunder) will be voicing the Piggies. Lastly, Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones, Destiny) will star as the Mighty Eagle.

This series of Lego playsets based on The Angry Birds Movie will be released sometime before the movie's May 20, 2016 release.
