A new report from the Xbox Wire reveals that the Kinect 2.0, recently taken out from Xbox One bundles, will be striking out on its own this fall.

The Kinect 2.0 will hit store shelves this October for $149, meaning that purchasing a standalone Xbox One plus the Kinect 2.0 will cost $50 more than the initial bundle. However, the Kinect 2.0 will include Dance Central Spotlight, the latest in Harmonix's dance-based motion game. While the price point isn't the best, the timing and the bundled game are perfect as the device will hit just in time for the holiday rush. Those who couldn't afford the entire bundle at once may have to pay a bit more, but now they'll be able to get both at their own pace.

Kinect 2.0 is a great little device when Xbox One owners actually put it into use. Surfing through TV stations with voice commands works really well, and the few games that do use it right now are more intuitive than the previous Kinect games ever were. Plus with Fantasia: Music Evolved and D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die coming soon, there'll be a lot more reasons to have a Kinect before the year is over. If you're thinking about jumping in, this standalone Kinect might not be such a bad idea.

Kinect 2.0 finally makes it on its own on Oct. 7.
