Konami is releasing Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate for the Nintendo 3DS on March 5th. All that castle love, however, will not spread to the Nintendo Wii U for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. In an interview with Eurogamer, producer David Cox claims that developer MercurySteam did not have the resources or budget for a Wii U conversion.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is being developed for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and the PC, and Cox wants his colleagues to keep their eyes on the prize. "We've got a certain way down the line, and it would be a distraction to have to do a part to another system at this point," said Cox. "You say to yourself, can I take on another 20 people? It's just a nightmare to manage at this point. That's the only reason why we're not doing any other formats."

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is tentatively scheduled for a release later this year. After their work on both Castlevania titles are completed, MercurySteam has expressed interest in putting their spin on Contra. No word if the Wii U will be left out in the cold once again.
