After two decades of developing memorable video games, Zombie Studios has unfortunately decided to close up shop.

We know them for games such as Daylight, Blacklight: Retribution, the Saw series, and the Spec Ops series. Now, Zombie Studios has announced on its website that the owners have decided it's time for retirement. "It has been awesome working with all the various technology over the years, both hardware and software, growing with the industry and our fans and producing fun games and technology of our own," its website states.

However, if you're a fan of the Blacklight series and wondering what is going to happen to it now that Zombie Studios is closing, have no fear! The devs explained that, "we want to congratulate and wish nothing but success to Builder Box, the new studio starting up that has acquired some of the work Zombie is parting with, including all rights to Blacklight: Retribution."

It's never easy to see a developer close, but it's become an all too familiar sight in recent years. We were hoping 2015 might be better for the industry, but this news doesn't get the year off to the best start.
