The Banner Saga to Lead a Legion of Indie Games to PlayStation 4
Though many big-name publishers are content to turn their backs on the ever-expanding indie gaming scene, Sony has decided to take a step forward and offer their hand in peace to their industrious indie cohorts by bringing a slew of great independent games to the PlayStation 4.
The Banner Saga, perhaps most well-known game of the bunch, blends demanding, turn-based strategy with a gorgeous, hand-drawn world. It also channels an engaging story. Like The Banner Saga, Kyn is a viking-inspired tactical RPG, but the real kicker here is that this game was built by a team of just two, proving that anyone with enough willpower can build a great game if they stick to it.
From the creator of Earthworm Jim and Neverhood comes Armikrog, a point-and-click, claymation adventure. Yes, we know what you're thinking: "Ugh, yet another point-and-click claymation adventure!" Well, this one comes with a soundtrack from Terry Taylor (Skullmonkeys, The Neverhood), and is jam-packed with the kinds of colorful characters and off-the-wall humor you'd expect from the minds behind Princess Slug-for-a-Butt.
Lastly, we have Toren, an Ico-esque puzzle/adventure game about a small child undergoing a perilous journey up a eponymous tower of the same name.
Though no firm release date has been given for any of these titles yet, Sony has confirmed their arrival to be in early 2015.
