Instead of catching 'em all, you mobile gamers will now be tasked with matching 'em all in Pokemon Shuffle, coming to iOS and Android devices.

The Pokemon Company International has just announced that they are developing Pokemon Shuffle, the match-three (and more), game that originally launched on the Nintendo 3DS, for mobile devices. In the game, players advance through different stages by battling and catching Pokemon. While Pokemon fans are used to battling and capture Pokemon in the wild through the use of role-playing game battle systems, this game has them matching Pokemon tiles, making sure they match three or more in order to attack the enemy. As always, elemental types come into play, so you still have to be very judicious in your matching, making sure that you're choosing Pokemon types that are strong and have very effective attacks against your quarry.

Pokemon Shuffle has already been downloaded more than 4.5 million times on the Nintendo eShop, so you'll be among good company if you decide to grab it from the App Store or the Google Play store when it launches. Just keep in mind that this is a free-to-play game with in-app purchases. So, while you may not shell out any hard-earned cash at the outset, expect to be shown offers for purchasable resources and such.

There's no hard release date for this game yet, but at least you can peruse the gallery above to see a bit of how the game works and decide whether or not you're ready to throw yourself into another match-three game on your mobile device. But, honestly... who can resist Pokemon?
