Bethesda has confirmed today that Skyrim development has officially ceased. There will be no more downloadable content released and no more patches made. Instead, the studio will be moving on to a brand new project, which most have presumed to be Fallout 4.

“For the last year and a half we've been working on new content for Skyrim, from the game updates, Creation Kit, Steam Workshop, Kinect support, to DLCs,” said Bethesda. “Parts of our team have also been in pre-production on our next major project, and that game is at the point where it requires the studio's full attention to make it our biggest and best work yet.”

Bethesda has not officially confirmed Fallout 4, but rumors have been circulating about its development for some time now. Bethesda has also gone on record saying that they intend to make a new Fallout title, at some point.

We will bring you more information on Bethesda’s new project as it becomes available. It wouldn’t be surprising if Bethesda had a huge announcement planned for this year’s E3.
