All you Xenosaga and Xenogears fans out there should really check out this gameplay footage of Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Nintendo's Japanese YouTube account recently posted a 24-minute-long video of Xenoblade Chronicles in action (via Polygon). This video focuses on the various gameplay features of Monolith Soft's massive RPG for the Wii U, which is a spiritual successor to Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii. If you're a fan of Monster Hunter or mechs, XCX is for you. We remember being enthralled with the Gears (giant robots) of Xenogears back in the late 90s, and XCX is rekindling that love. Xenoblade is a massive open world RPG. While you can quest and explore, you're going to need some vehicles to help traverse the land. This is where XCX's mechs come into play. These mechs can be used for combat and walk/run around like a giant Gundam, and they can also transform! Watching the mech in this video run around, transform into a rolling tank and fly around like a jet seemed like so much fun. There are drones you can send out to help scout the massive landscapes and a large city hub from where you'll get your quests and gear. Looking at the various alien monsters you'll be fighting (we wished the video showed more combat), you're going to need all the help you can get.

Nintendo's gameplay video claims Xenoblade Chronicles X will launch in Japan for the Wii U on April 29, offering the same pre-download option that Super Smash Bros. had. While a Western release has been confirmed for XCX, there's still no word on when we'll be able to play this behemoth of an RPG -- we have our fingers crossed it's sooner rather than later.
