Comcept, Contradiction Films and Legendary Digital Media have announced that they're working on a live action, feature-length project based on Mighty No. 9.

Keiji Inafune and Comcept's spiritual successor the the Mega Man series, Mighty No. 9, is getting its own live action film. This marks the second game made by Inafune that Legendary Digital and Contradiction will adapt into a feature-length project. Dead Rising: Watchtower was released made with the same companies (which is kind of a bad sign for the Mighty No. 9 movie's quality). Nevertheless, the success of Dead Rising: Watchtower has inspired Crackle to make a sequel made by Legendary Digital and Contradiction Films producing.

“Legendary Digital and Contradiction have carved out a unique niche for ourselves, developing video game IP into successful feature-length and series content for digital platforms the world over,” said Greg Siegel, Legendary Digital Media’s Senior Vice President, Development and Production. “We are honored to have another opportunity to translate Inafune’s immersive worlds, engaging characters and action-packed gameplay into a live action project for video game fans and fans of streaming video alike.”

Mighty No. 9 follows the story of an android named Beck, unit No. 9 in a series of 10 combat robots called the Mighty Numbers. A computer virus made his cohorts and many machines around the world turn evil, and it's up to Beck to stop them while finding the culprit who planted the virus. We should note that Mighty No. 9 already has an animated series in the works. Can't we get the game to launch first before we start announcing all these spin-offs, Inafune?

"The announcement that Legendary Digital is collaborating with Contradiction and comcept on creating a live action project based on MIGHTY NO. 9 is really amazing, not only for myself and the rest of the team at comcept who worked on the game, but also for all the fans who have supported the project," said Keiji Inafune, comcept’s CEO. "This collaboration will give our creation the ability to reach people all over the world. Thanks to all of your support, we have fulfilled another one of our dreams."

Mighty No 9 will launch for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U and 3DS on Sept. 15. Unfortunately, there is no launch window for the Mighty No. 9 live action film, but we have a feeling it'll launch sometime in 2016. Don't expect this film in theaters, as Dead Rising: Watchtower debuted on Crackle before its Video on Demand, DVD and Blu-Ray releases.
