The former CEO and founder of Monolith Productions has set an open challenge for a competent indie studio to step forward and develop Condemned 3.

Monolith Productions' Condemned series set a standard for a slow-paced, first-person horror experience that would trickle down to its line of F.E.A.R. games and influence the likes of Outlast and Slender: The Arrival. The studio's founder and former CEO, Jason "Jace" Hall, has issued an open challenge on his Facebook to the unknown, underground heroes of the video game industry in the hopes that someone can develop the third Condemned game that he always wanted to make. It has been 10 years since Condemned: Criminal Origins launched for the Xbox 360, and we've been waiting a long time for its next episode of dark, psychological horror.

Jace Hall's call to action reads as follows:

Deep thought..and question...

I helped to create a video game console franchise called "Condemned." I currently own the entire franchise.

There have been 2 game titles released for the franchise, "Condemned: Criminal Origins" and "Condemned: Bloodshot" - they both did well, and I am consistently asked when a third game might be created.

Since I am focused on other things, and will be for quite some time, this franchise is just sitting there.

I am contemplating finding an interested and proven Indie development team AND PROVIDING IT TO THEM, so that they can take over the franchise and move it forward.

As an indie, it can be very hard to get marketing/media attention for a title that you work on. This franchise is already quite known, has market demand, and is in an innovative genre/category.

Should I explore this idea further? What say you all?

Here's to hoping Condemned 3 happens and brings back its realistic, first-person style of horror, along with those awesome crime scene investigations.
