Microsoft's Xbox Live Gold Family Pack, which offered discounts to families who purchased multiple memberships, has been discontinued, reports Joystiq.

A Microsoft rep emailed Joystiq, stating that the pack can no longer be purchased. "The Family Center experience with settings management, allowance granting, child activity reports and family subscripts management are still available for current Family Gold members at this time."

During its run, the Xbox Live Gold Family Pack offered four Xbox Live Gold memberships for a $99.99 bundle. When asked by Joystiq on the reasons for the cancellation, the rep stated, "We continually evaluate our business focus and work to offer services that make the most sense for our customers and Xbox."

What makes sense for consumers is a discount on their Gold accounts, but maybe this cancellation is a sign of a different plan to come with the unveiling of the Xbox 720.

The Xbox Live Gold Family Pack debuted in November 2010.
