A new teaser for The Phantom Pain has been released by developer Jaokim Mogren (who is thought to be Hideo Kojima), and offers up some cleverly hidden clues that might indicate the nature of this game.

Thankfully, there are people like AesopsEpisoden of YouTube to help us decipher all of cryptic messages and hidden bits of info.

Aesops has translated the encrypted Morse code heard throughout the video and found that it says:

GENERATING IMAGE HOLD SCENARIO LOADING HOLD ACTIVATE PHANTOM PAIN DOT MEME HOLD ERROR ERROR ERROR ERROR

That doesn't really shed light on anything, but it could point to a virtual reality program loading up, given the use of other VR programs in the franchise's past.

Around the :41 mark, the screen flashes with text for something called Project Omega. The whole thing reads:

Project Omega
AI MATRIX: SECTOR 07-A942
VR Program 'Phantom_Pain.MME'
Contractor: Moby Dick Studios
Subject: Redacted

Purpose:
Treatmeant of neurological damage sustained in combat situations
Treatment of combat related psychological stress
Enhancement of combat abilities following impairment
Implementation of ..::.|>..::.:

From the looks of the "Purpose" segment, the VR program might aim to treat post traumatic stress disorder. If the subject is Snake, then it would make sense that we'd see all of those callbacks to previous games in the first trailer, such as a flaming Volgin or the floating Psycho Mantis at the end.

If this is indeed an elaborate ploy by Kojima to mask another Metal Gear game under a different skin, then it's proving to be a pretty ride, especially when the sleuths of the internet gather together to figure out exactly what this game will give us.

Watch the teaser below and let us know what you think.
