As part of their E3 digital presentation, Nintendo showed new trailers for the Wii U and 3DS version of Sonic BOOM, the upcoming high-speed action title starring Sonic the Hedgehog and friends.

With all the grandeur and gravitas of a big-budget Hollywood trailer, this video explains that Sonic and pals will take on a villainous cybernetic snake monster named Lyric, who has a personal grudge against Sonic, himself. Dr. Robotnik will also be involved, possibly in a partnership with Lyric.

The Wii U trailer shows just how nice Sonic will look on Nintendo's current console, with the anthropomorphic team blazing across colorful, vibrant 2D and 3D terrain, looking great while doing so. The 3DS version is less impressive, but still looks good and fast for a handheld.

Sonic Boom is being developed by Big Red Button Entertainment for the Wii U and Sanzaru Games for 3DS, and is expected to release this November.
