A 19-minute plus game play video of Planetary Annihilation, a title that is aiming to bring back the love for real-time strategy games, was released today by Uber Entertainment.

Art director Steve Thompson and lead designer Jon Mayor introduced a pre-alpha of the game in the video, with most of the footage centering on the intricate terrain of one of the planets featured in Planetary Annihilation. Weapon systems and structure building are also seen in the clip, with Mayor adding that combat footage should be released within the coming weeks.

"All the art you're about to see is temporary," said Thompson in the video. "What we want to do is paint a canvas where you put down the broad strokes and you see just the base level on what things are going to look like."

Last year, Planetary Annihilation collected $2.2 million in Kickstarter pledges, far surpassing its $900,000 goal. Early supporters who have pre-ordered the title will get to play the alpha version by the end of May.

Planetary Annihilation is set for release on PC, Mac, and Linux in July 2013.
