Abe went through hell to reach freedom. Now, he's going through it again just to get Oddworld: New 'N' Tasty on the Wii U.

IGN reports that Just Add Water is having a tough time trying to bring Oddworld: New 'N' Tasty to the Wii U lineup. Since debuting on the PlayStation 4 this past July, Wii U owners are still waiting. Lorne Lanning, the creator of the Oddworld series, mentioned that the lack of a hard drive on the Wii U is causing issues.

"We’re having challenges with not having a hard disk, but we’re trying to overcome those challenges," said Lanning. "We have a significant amount of money and time invested in trying to resolve that issue, but if I guaranteed it, I might be silly."

This statement is directed towards the basic version of the Wii U, which has 8 GB storage.

"If you're going to make a Wii U game, it better run on the 8GB unit," Lanning added. "Otherwise, it's not really a Wii U game."

Lanning also mentioned that the reason why the original Abe's Oddysee didn't launch on Nintendo consoles years ago was because the pre-rendered video cutscenes wouldn't fit on Nintendo cartridges at the time of its release.
