Square Enix Dev’s LinkedIn Profile Leaks New Kingdom Hearts Info

The LinkedIn profile of a former developer at Square Enix has revealed all kinds of new info about Kingdom Hearts 3 and a mystery game called Kingdom Hearts 2.9.

Courtesy of Destructoid, we have learned that KH13 posted the details of a former Square Enix designer's LinkedIn page pertaining to the future of the Kingdom Hearts series. Based on this developer's profile, Square Enix is working on a new game called Kingdom Hearts 2.9 for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Some of you may recognize that name as it was originally on Square Enix's E3 schedule this year, but it was removed without any explanation. I have a feeling Kingdom Hearts 2.9 will combine those recent HD remixes from the PlayStation 3 for (another) re-release that will help bring the series the PlayStation 4.

The profile does give us some hints as to what we should expect in Kingdom Hearts 3. Most importantly, there is going to be some kind of multiplayer aspect being implemented in KH3. It would be really fun if you were able to get a friend join your game and play as Riku or Kairi on the field as you played as Sora. Another thing worth mentioning is the supposed return of Gummi Ships, which were used to travel from world to world in the first Kingdom Hearts.

Throwing Pixar into the mix is interesting. Could we be seeing a world based on Monsters, Inc? I'd love to see Sora, Donald and Goofy explore that world in monster outfits.Toy Story, The Incredibles, Brave and Wall-E could make for good stages as well.

Unfortunately, there's still no launch window for Kingdom Hearts 3, but we have a feeling we'll be seeing it at the Tokyo Game Show, which starts on Sept. 18.
