Greatest Game Art Ever (This Week): Meredy, Luke fon Fabre, Tear + More
Today we explore a celebrated Japanese role-playing game series that might be unknown to a lot of you. Let's take a peek at the many worlds of the Tales series.
Some of you might be familiar with games like Tales of Vesperia, Tales of Symphonia and Tales of the Abyss, but did you know there are about 15 games in the main series? And that's not counting the spin-offs and a lot of the sequels! What makes these games so memorable are the quirky casts of characters and the amazing battle systems, all of which are variations of the LMBS, or the Linear Motion Battle System. The LMBS can be simply described as a 2D fighting game system with spells and items. You can move from one side of the screen to the other on a 2D plane and toss a variety of directional attacks, skills and spells at the enemy this way. And it's amazing.
Explore the gallery above to see some of the most memorable characters from the series and to get a glimpse at the epic content you might be missing out on. Then look up some cool combo videos for characters, like Rita Mordio's 290-hit combo from Tales of Vesperia, with NO repeated actions! Crazy, right?
