Final Fantasy 12 Remake Announced by Distant Worlds Conductor
Recent comments made by the conductor of the Final Fantasy Distant Worlds concert suggest that Balthier and the gang are making a return.
This past weekend, the Final Fantasy Distant Worlds orchestral concert took place in Pittsburgh, PA. During this event, conductor Arnie Roth announced there was a remake of Final Fantasy XII in the works. Many onlookers were thrilled at the announcement (courtesy of NeoGAF's users) and blew up social media afterwards.
While the crowds marked out for this announcement, someone at Square Enix HQ most likely wasn't smiling, as Roth publicly shot down what he said and apologized this morning on Distant World's official Facebook page:
Dear friends,
In response to comments posted by fans, I want to rectify a statement made from the stage Saturday night at our Distant Worlds: music from FINAL FANTASY concert in Pittsburgh.
Following conversations with composer Hitoshi Sakimoto regarding new concert arrangements of music from FINAL FANTASY XII, regrettably, the term ‘remake’ was used in error during one of the announcements that took place from the stage during the concert.
We sincerely regret any confusion this has caused.

While Roth says that the word "remake" was used in error, his announcement, apology and wording still suggest an HD remaster of Final Fantasy XII. Considering how much of a success Final Fantasy X was on modern systems, I wouldn't be surprised if XII was next, regardless of how much I hated it. I have a feeling Square Enix will make an official announcement of an HD remaster at Gamescom or during the next PlayStation Experience convention, if it happens.
