On Wednesday, 2K confirmed reports of the XCOM shooter's demise being greatly exaggerated. The publisher is now planning to re-reveal the game with an announcement on Friday, April 26th.

Earlier this week, a viral video cropped up hinting that 2K Marin's XCOM title was going to be formally unveiled for a third time. 2K took to its company blog to inform the masses a reveal was imminent.

Originally announced back in 2010, the game has changed quite a bit according to 2K. Now XCOM (or whatever this new game will be called) has been confirmed as a squad-based tactical shooter. There's reason to believe the title will be changed, as 2K described, "the game has evolved into a high-stakes narrative experience imbued with core XCOM concepts."

As for when we'll finally have all this mess sorted out, another viral video on the Veritas MCMXLII account intimated the April 26th date. At the conclusion of the video, the film reel distorts, showing the side of the reel with the words "APR 26" and "2K." After nearly three years, we can manage just a few more days of waiting to finally see XCOM in all its glory.
