The future of Unreal Tournament will be revealed later this week by Epic Games.

Epic Games' Paul Meegan and Vice President and Co-Founder Mark Rein have confirmed on Twitter that Unreal Tournament is returning after six years since the release of Unreal Tournament 3.

The future of the series will be announced at 2PM EDT on Thursday, May 8 on Twitch TV. There are no hints about what the announcement will concern other than the fact that it will have to do with the Unreal Engine 4 and the Unreal Engine 4 Dev Community. The tweets were followed by lots of speculation, such as the possibility that the next Unreal Tournament will be a mod/user-generated content platform akin to LittleBigPlanet.

There's also no word about whether or not this next Unreal game will appear on any consoles or will be available as a PC-exclusive title, but this update on the official Unreal Engine 4 forums details new features that include full support for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. We'll update you as more information is made available.
