Remember when you were a kid and you'd pit toys from different lines against each other, like, say, having the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fight the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation in a crossover that somehow never happened? Remember how this was something you definitely did as a kid and not, like, this weekend when you were bored and realized that you paid good money for all these toys and so you might as well get some use out of them? Well, Ubisoft, the video game publisher best known these days for the Assassin's Creed franchise, is certainly hoping you do, because that seems to be the premise of the upcoming Toy Soldiers: War Chest.

It's a strategy game set in a toy box with various factions battling for control, from old-school toy soldiers and knights, to sparkling rainbow unicorns and sci-fi warriors --- but for the Hall of Fame edition, they're adding in licensed properties, including He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and GI Joe.

It's worth noting that GI Joe is represented here by Duke, the team's First Sergeant and field commander. Whether there will be other unique characters on the roster remains to be seen; the trailer above shows squadrons of Men-At-Arms and a whole swarm of Orkos, for instance, while He-Man and Battle Cat look to be more unique. One assumes, however, that they purposely omitted Snake Eyes so that the game would have some kind of balance and not just result in constant victories for the silent master of the Arashikage Ninja Clan. Either way, it's nice to see that Duke has all of his points of articulation, although you'd think being made for a different scale than the MOTU figures would give He-Man a definite advantage.

According to the Toy Soldiers website, two more licensed factions are still to be revealed. I imagine it's a slim chance, but who knows, maybe we'lll get that TMNT/TNG crossover after all.
