Episode Two of Tomb Raider: Guide to Survival has been posted on YouTube, giving us mere, non-adventuring mortals a look at how Lara's going to keep her butt alive as she explores the island.

The video focuses on two major aspects of the game: fast travel and gear gating.

Fast travel can be accessed through the Base Camp menu and will allow Lara to return to locations that she previously explored. This mechanic is important because not all areas will be accessible at first.

Gear gating ties in with fast travel because once Lara has created or upgraded new tools and weapons, previously blocked-off paths in different locations will become available for exploration. An example would be Lara's use of the bow and how it can be upgraded with a rope.

Lara can use the rope to climb to another part of a location that had been inaccessible. Think of it like Link roaming around the Goron Village but unable to get to an area because he lacks the bombs necessary to destroy it. Once he has bombs, he's free to blast the rocks away and explore that area.

Another example is the shotgun. Once Lara gets the bullet-broom, she can use it as a weapon and a tool. Not only does it convert bad guys into tiny atom form, but she can utilize its awesome destructive powers and blow away barricades to gain access to new areas in old locations.

Check out the video below to see how else Lara can survive her harrowing circumstances in the game. Put all of this good advice to use when Tomb Raider comes out on March 5th, 2013.

Let us know how you plan on surviving in the game!
