This 5-minute-long gameplay trailer for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt shows off just how great it will be to explore the Northern Realms as Geralt of Rivia.

We were simply left in awe by CD Projekt Red's new gameplay trailer for The Witcher 3. This trailer showcases all of the things you can do throughout the land, whether it be saving people, getting laid, gambling, fighting, perfecting your spells, honing your swordplay skills, treasure hunting, participating in dark rituals or hunting monsters. This game takes the freedoms we saw in Skyrim and just cranks it up to 100.

Here's what CD Projekt Red's narrator had to say about The Witcher 3 during this amazing trailer:

At CD Projekt Red, it has always been our goal to take you on adventures both legendary and grounded in reality. To tell you stories where breath-taking magic, fantastic creatures and age-old prophesies are interwoven  with religious fanaticism, war crimes and even racism. It's this very vision that we realized with our most ambitious project to date — The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The Northern Realms span a vast continent, filled with remote outposts, quaint villages and bustling cities of astonishing wealth. Varied landscapes will see you riding into mountain valleys, sailing the open seas, and exploring forgotten temples. However, this land is briming with conflict. Racial hatred often erupts into violence, and war between the mighty has driven people leaving their homes, but one plague runs rampant — monsters. They haunt the countryside, breed in city sewers and rule the wilderness, feasting on merchant caravans.

This is where Geralt of Rivia, the protagonist of The Witcher series comes in. Watching Geralt interact with the world, chasing monsters on land and in the sea, freeing areas of ghouls and watching humans set up settlements which eventually prosper into towns shows just how awesome The Witcher 3 will be. We're loving how much freedom CD Projekt Red is offering. There just isn't enough time in a 24 hour day to do all the things in the Northern Realms that we want to do, but we sure as hell will try.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will launch for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 19.
