The first trailer for The Great Ace Attorney gives us a look at the new characters in action, as well as the new locales we'll see.

So it looks like Ryuunosuke Naruhodou, Phoenix Wright's Meiji-era ancestor, and his trusty sidekick, Susato Mikotoba, sail to England to brush up on their knowledge of Western justice. This introductory video includes voice-acting and animation using the game's engine, bringing the characters to life.

We witness Sherlock Holmes deduce that Mikotoba is, in fact, a Japanese woman. His powers of observation are unmatched, given that the girl has just come from Japan and is wearing traditional Japanese garb. Also, she speaks Japanese. Greatest detective in the literary world, ladies and gentlemen.

We're keen to see the story unfold in The Great Ace Attorney and to check out what new features the title will have. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait a while since it's due for a 2015 release in Japan, so we're going to have to wait for the announcement of an official North American release date.

If Sherlock and The Great Ace Attorney can't solve the case, Ice-T sure can.
