After all the controversy, Bandai Namco Games has announced Tales of Zestiria's Western release for PS4, PS3 and PC.

Bandai Namco released a trailer heralding Tales of Zestiria's Western release. The interesting thing about this trailer is that it confirms the game is also heading to PlayStation 4 and PC, which many fans were unsure about. The previous major game of the series, Tales of Xillia 2, was a PS3 exclusive. In most Tales games, you're able to choose between male or female main character (though the stories often have both male and female leads in the spotlight). Zestiria has you trying to unite the human race and the invisible deities, the Seraphs, in order to save the world. Playing as the female protagonist in this game has lead a major controversy that had many Japanese fans up in arms.

After a certain amount of progression throughout Tales of Zestiria's main story (spoilers ahead), your female lead was swapped out for another one of the major female characters. This double heroine situation was a debatable topic for Japanese fans, as the replacement female lead wasn't as prominent or advertised in the game's ads as the original one was. In response to this debate, the recently announced next game of the series, Tales of Berseria, will feature the same female protagonist, Velvet, throughout the entirety of the game.

Tales of Zestiria will be hitting PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on Oct. 16. The digital PC version of Zestiria will launch on Oct. 20.
