The parent company of the studio behind the recent Syndicate reboot and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons has strengthened its portfolio, acquiring Geminose Studios for $7 million.

Starbreeze calls the move a way to "strengthen Starbreeze’s range of IP’s further to include a youth targeted franchise." Geminose specializes in creating Skylanders-style games with physical toys interacting with some form of digital game content, so we may be seeing another entry in the Skylanders versus Disney Infinity battle soon.

“I’m happy to announce that the deal has closed. Geminose will be a valuable addition to the Starbreeze portfolio, expanding and diversifying our Intellectual Properties and product-range," says CEO of Starbreeze Bo Andersson Klint. "We’re very excited to tell you more about the franchise throughout its development during 2015/2016."

As games like Skylanders and Disney Infinity continue to sell like crazy, we're not surprised more companies are trying to get in on the action. With Nintendo's Amiibo launching sometime this holiday and now Starbreeze starting its own game, we get the feeling we'll soon be inundated with tiny figurines everywhere we look. Soon we'll be mixing up the figures, trying to put Mario into the Skylanders world or add Jack Sparrow to the Smash Bros. roster. It's only a matter of time before players have entire rooms dedicated to NFC figures (if they don't already).
